
Canon launches XF605 professional camcorder with L-series lens and DIGIC DV7 image processor
Canon has recently announced the launch of a new professional camcorder in the XF series, namely the XF605. The Canon XF605 features the company’s L Series lens, which offers 15x zoom along with 3-ring controls. There is a 1.0-inch CMOS sensor and it is powered by the DIGIC DV7 image processor. The camcorder comes with head and eye detection and 5-axis stabilization.
The Canon XF605 comes with a compact body that brings portability while retaining three lens rings for better handling. The new professional XF series camcorder weighs approximately 600 grams less than the XF705. The device is claimed to provide improved AF and transmission capabilities, making it ideal for genres such as broadcast journalism, documentaries and event coverage that require instant response and single-operator shooting styles.

The Canon XF605 camcorder for professional use is equipped with a 1.0-inch CMOS sensor. It is powered by the DIGIC DV7 image processor, which allows users to capture high-quality 4K/50p/4:2:2/10-bit HDR video. The camcorder also allows recording in HDR and recording with a high frame rate of 120 FPS in Full HD.
Along with the L (Luxury) series lens, the Canon camcorder comes with an autofocus technology called Dual Pixel CMOS AF. This feature allows each effective pixel on the CMOS sensor to perform both phase-difference autofocus and imaging functions, enabling high-speed and high-precision focusing. The XF605 is the company’s first to offer eye and head AF as well as improved face detection AF, allowing for more accurate and stable subject tracking. The camcorder also offers intuitive controls and therefore includes touch panel menu controls and playback mode.

The company also launched a new CTM mobile application that allows the Canon XF605 professional video camera to connect and transfer recorded video data using a cable. It also enables wireless data transfer to iOS devices and FTP servers at broadcast stations or other locations, enabling faster and more efficient workflows for video operations.
